The call to participate in the Las Alturas Film Festival opened
The International Film Festival of the Heights opened its call for a new edition that, as it happened in the 2020, the official competitions can be viewed online and - if the context allows it- face-to-face activities will also be held in Jujuy.
This year a new Official Competition will be added: “National Work in Progress Competition of the Heights” for feature films of fiction or documentary genre in the process of being made. With this incorporation they will be 4 the competitions that will take place at the Festival.
Productions from Argentina will be received at the International Fiction and Documentary Competitions, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela. Fiction short films will be accepted in the NOA Shorts Competition, documentary or animation of the NOA Region of Argentina: Jujuy, Salta, Tucumán, Santiago del Estero, La Rioja and Catamarca. Regarding the Work in Progress of the Heights, Argentine production and / or co-production feature film projects in progress may be registered.
Until the 24 of May, Those interested and interested may register their films for free in the different categories by completing the required data in the online registration form found at http://www.cinedelasalturas.com.ar and where you can also download the Regulations.
Once the call is closed, the Artistic Directors of the Festival, will select 12 fiction feature films, 12 documentary feature films, 12 short films and 6 projects in development for the different competencies forming the Official Selection for the 7th. edition. The selected films must meet the artistic merits necessary to form a program that is sufficiently representative of the best that is produced in each territory.. Originality will be evaluated, the expressive proposal, narrative efficacy, as well as technical aspects of the work.
The winners of each competition will receive the Andes Statuette and a prize of $300.000 Argentine pesos in international competitions, $140.000 pesos for the winner of the NOA Shorts competition and $100.000 Argentine pesos for the best project under development. further, In the Fiction Feature Film Competition, the Andes Statuette for Best Direction will be awarded, Best screenplay, Best Direction of Photography, Best performance, Jury Special Mention and Public Award.
Meanwhile, in the Documentary and Short Film Competition NOA, the Andes Statuette will be awarded to the Special Mention of the Jury and the Audience Award. Like all years, the institutions and companies that accompany the Festival will deliver their recognitions and awards.
In the last edition of the Festival “Los sonámbulos” by Paula Hernández it was chosen as the Best International Fiction Feature Film, while “Juan” by Adrián Geyer and “Sacachún” by Gabriel Páez shared the award for Best International Documentary Feature Film. The award for Best NOA Short was for "El florecer de un bombisto" by Nicolás Stefanazzi.
