Virtual talks on the relationship between Gardel and football
In the framework of the commemoration of the 90 years of the first World Cup, the Ministry of Culture of the City of Buenos Aires –through the Carlos Gardel House Museum- will carry out a series of talks about the relationship between the Zorzal Criollo and the sport number 1 of the Argentines.
The final - which consecrated Uruguay for the first time after defeating Argentina- was celebrated on 30 July 1930 and he has one of his main characters in Gardel since he was present at that party, where I greet both teams.
In this context and through the official Instagram account @museocasagardel you can enjoy this series of meetings that will be led by Marina Cañardo, director enclosure.
The first talk will be this Thursday 6 of August, from 18 with Pablo Aguirre Varrailhón, AHIFU researcher and member (Association of Uruguayan Football Historians and Researchers). In this first meeting, will discuss the history of soccer in Uruguay, the english background, the emergence of the first Celeste and the initial steps in continental tournaments, Gardel's friendship with some Uruguayan soccer players and his link with Peñarol and Nacional.
At the same time, Thursday 13 of August (also from 18), with Ana Turón, researcher and specialist in Carlos Gardel. In that meeting they will review the friendships of the Zorzal Criollo in the football environment of the time and his time in Montevideo in the final of the World Cup in 1930, visiting the Uruguayan and Argentine teams.
