Saturday began, in the Don Bosco Theater Bernal, A new edition of the Latin American Festival of Puppet Animarte -the seventh- which will run until the end of May and will offer a wide variety of functions for the whole family.

Organized by the Fantoche Violeta group and the Don Bosco theater, plus the sponsorship of the Hijos de Fierro Civil Association, the National Theater Institute and the Estesur theater organization, In this edition the festival will have five other venues such as the Lynch Cultural Center (Wilde) and Sarandiarte (Sarandí), corresponding to the Avellaneda party; Artenpie (Quilmes), Indigo (Berazategui) and the Maipú theater (Banfield).

As every year, there will be casts from various regions, not only from the country, but also from abroad, as Ricardo Lista tells La Vereda, from the group Fantoche Violeta. “This time we will have two casts from Venezuela, Cuba and Chile. We will also have groups from Catamarca, Cordoba and Mendoza, all with different proposals and stories”.

This year's festival was opened by Teatrín Viajero Zapateo and Sarandeo, by Chincho Poroto, coming from Catamarca. “This show is based on a technique that we could call load-bearing theater or bululú, “a character who walked the roads in Europe who took puppets out of a suitcase to tell stories.”, explains List, under the watchful eye of Rodolfo Mondongo, emblematic puppet that functions as the face of the festival and performs the task of presenting each of the functions.

Another surprise at the opening was the presence of the mystery boxes made by the Telba Carantoña group from Venezuela., made up of José Quevedo and Emmanuel Gunezler. This is a wonderful performance of lambe lambe theater, a “technique that consists of a small space where an attempt is made to tell a very brief story, of some 4 minutes and for a single spectator, "who looks at everything through a peephole and listens to a recording track through headphones," explains Lista, who adds: “It's like returning to the essence of theater: something we did since we were little like playing with our dolls in a small space, telling us our own stories”.

How does the puppet manage to endure in times where technology reigns??

The puppet is like a different plane. It is as if he passes through the current maelstrom whenever he wants, because it is a living art that works with fantasy, from the grotesque. Mobilizes sensitive cords in the human being, strings that we have in the genetic memory that we have carried for thousands and thousands of years and it is activated. What happens to us, subjects of the 21st century, It's hard for us to leave the maelstrom. We celebrate a lot every time the public comes to the room and joins us.. That means that a giant step has been taken without them realizing it., since all the temptations offered by the technology of this time have been left behind. They decided to witness a living fact that is theater.

Another of the proposals that the festival offers each year is the puppet show for adults, which in this edition will be led by Oscar Navarro Correa, Mendoza puppeteer who is also a playwright and theater director. “It is a very poetic proposal. “He works with objects and his hands and offers three numbers where he tells us different things that revolve around a theme.”, holds List. “The interesting thing is, from a generic point of view, "That the adult chooses to see puppets and can see that there are very deep stories that can be told from the puppet.", he added.

Notably, thanks to the public that joins every year, The performances extend outside the doors of the theaters and reach venues where people may not have access to a room to enjoy this type of shows. “This is fundamental for us. Theater is a living art that is built together, so part of the money raised from ticket sales, "It will be used to pay for an extra performance for the puppeteer who will take his work to places that do not have access to the theater.", highlights List.

In previous editions, The Festival reached deprived neighborhoods, orphanages, hospitalized, special schools and nursing homes.
