Argentine cinema will be the protagonist at the 68th San Sebastián International Film Festival, that will develop from this 18 al 26 of September, with productions that integrate the different competences of the Spanish contest and those that participate in the industry area.

There are two Argentine films, between the 17 from different countries, who will compete for the Golden Shell in the Official Competition: One of them is "We will never die", by Eduardo Crespo, which stars Romina Escobar, Rodrigo Santana, Jésica frickel, Giovanni Pelizzari, Brian Alba and Sebastián Santana.

This film tells the story of Rodrigo and his mother, those who travel to the town where their older brother just died. In that calm place, they will go through the first stages of mourning. Rodrigo will appear to the pain of adults and imperceptibly will leave childhood, while his mother will try to reveal the mysteries of that death.

The other production is "Akelarre", by Pablo Agüero, a co-production with Spain and France, which is set in the Basque Country, in 1609, when the men of the region have gone to sea.

In that context, Ana participates in a party in the forest with other girls from the village. Judge Rostegui, commissioned by the King to purify the region, arrests them and accuses them of witchcraft. Decide to do whatever it takes to get them to confess what they know about the coven, magic ceremony during which supposedly the Devil initiates his servants and mates with them. This is the winning project of the Arte Kino International Prize of the VI Europe-Latin America Co-Production Forum in 2017.

On the other hand, There are four Argentine films that make up the Horizontes Latinos section, aimed at those productions that have as their theme the Latino communities of the rest of the world. They are "The fugitive", by Natalia Meta —who will be in charge of opening the section— "Unlimited Edition", Santiago Loza, Edgardo Cozarinsky, Romina Paula, Virginia Cosín, "The thousand and one", by Clarisa Navas, and "Mom, mother, mother", by Sol Berruezo Pichon-Riviere.

In the Nest section, that brings together students from film schools around the world, whose works have been previously selected, to participate in screenings of their short films, colloquia and master classes by industry professionals, there are the Argentine short films "Chinese Wall", by Santiago Barzi, and "This is not a story about China", by Francisca Jiménez Ortegate.

Co-production with Spain and Portugal “The island of lies”, by Paula Cons Varela, integrates the Made in Spain section, and stars Nerea Barros, Darío Grandinetti, Aitor Luna, Victoria Teijeiro, Ana Oca.

The Donostia industry area has the WIP section, of which they participate 229 films, and to which they arrived 68 Argentine productions. Between them, stand out "Jesús López", by Maximiliano Schonfeld (co-production with France), "Stone night", by Iván Fund (co-production with Chile), and "The fossil remains", by Jerónimo Quevedo. While in the Co-Production Forum, of 235 selected projects (there was 68 Argentine projects presented), are the Argentines "The delivery man is on his way", by Martín Rejtman (co-production with Portugal), "American night", from Nele Wohlatz, "Three", by Diego Schipani, "Poor kids", Benjamin Naishtat, "Fever", by Mateo Bendesky (co-production with Italy and Brazil), "The smell of freshly cut grass", by Celina Murga (co-production with Germany).
