The second stage of the XVIII European Cinema Meeting begins

With the projection of 20 movies from 16 countries, On May 1, the second stage corresponding to the XVIII European Cinema Meeting will arrive, which will have face-to-face and virtual modality.

In this opportunity, the motto will be “Facing reality”, thus offering a program that presents the perspective of European filmmakers on universal challenges that have repercussions on the individual.

Within this framework, each film will invite you to reflect on the current context, the need for transformation on a personal level, as well as society, facing the challenges of today and the future.

It is worth noting that the projection modality of this edition will be both face-to-face and virtual. At that point, the productions can be seen in CABA (The Cultural San Martin and French Alliance of Buenos Aires), Neuquén (MNBA Neuquen), Rosario (Cairo Public Cinema), Tucumán (Rosita Avila Municipal Theater), Ushuaia (Sarmiento Popular Library), San Juan (Auditorium of the Franklin Rawson Museum in San Juan) and tiger (Enclosure of the Honorable Deliberative Council of Tigre).

On the other hand, movies offered online will be available between 1 and the 31 of May, month in which the Month of Europe is celebrated.

The City of Buenos Aires joins the EU Delegation in Argentina and Embassies participating in the celebration of the Month of Europe. From the 16 May there will be a week of face-to-face functions at El Cultural San Martín, The program will open with the screening of the Finnish film Ladies of Steel (Steel dolls) by Pamela Tola. There will also be three days of performances at the Alianza Francesa in Buenos Aires.

Programming includes 20 movies about 16 countries (Germany, Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Denmark, Slovenia, Spain, Finland, France, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Sweden).

In addition to the offer of films provided by the Embassies and Cultural Institutes of the EU Member States in Argentina, there will be a series of special events, like the "Q's"&virtual ace”, moderated by Cecilia Barrionuevo, with movie directors from programming (con Anna Zamecka, director of “COMMUNION” -Poland-, and with Laurent Micheli, director of “LOLA” – Belgium-). There will also be a virtual script masterclass open to the public that will be dictated by the Spanish screenwriter and director Lola Mayo.

in parallel, the Film Writing Workshop will be held for the 16 projects selected during the call held in March, with delivery of two prizes (of 700 Y 300 Euros). The workshop will be coordinated by the screenwriters and directors Celina Murga and Lucila Podestá.

The European Cinema Meeting is coordinated by the Delegation of the European Union in Argentina and has the support of the different Embassies and Cultural Institutes of the EU Member States accredited in Argentina..
