“Official Competition” had its premiere in the United States
The film “Official Competition”, brand new production by the duo Mariano Cohn and Gastón Duprat, had its premiere on North American soil where it recorded excellent numbers and was well received by specialized critics.
In that context, the tape headed by the Spaniards Penelope Cruz and Antonio Banderas, together with the Argentine Oscar Martínez had a total of 34 $1,000 in fundraising in just three days.
World premiered at the Venice Film Festival and first shown in the United States at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York, this film will continue to be shown next week in theaters in Boston, Philadelphia, Phoenix y Washington, to then reach the entire United States 1 of July.
The film received excellent reviews from the American media.. Among other, The New York Times stated that “Oscar Martínez, Penelope Cruz and Antonio Banderas give a master class in acting. Duprat and Cohn keep the narrative in a tone of great farce with eruptions of strong doses of feeling". The New Yorker stated that “the framing is super accurate, the emotional peaks are very well managed, and there is a glorious gag involving a giant rock that would have been the pride of master Jaques Tati”.
Last week, as a step prior to the commercial release of the film, Gaston Duprat, Mariano Cohn and Andrés Duprat were present along with Penélope Cruz and Antonio Banderas on the red carpet of the Tribeca Film Festival in New York, where the film was acclaimed at its premiere screening.
The Tribeca Festival was founded by legendary actor Robert De Niro, who filmed weeks ago in Buenos Aires for the series of five chapters called "Nada", written and directed by Duprat and Cohn themselves, starring Luis Brandoni, where De Niro makes a special participation in the first four episodes and is the guest star in the last chapter.
Regarding "Official Competition", is now available for all of Latin America on the Star+ platform.
The story of this film revolves around a billionaire businessman who, in search of importance and social prestige, decides to make a movie that leaves a mark.
For it, hire the best: a stellar team formed by the famous filmmaker Lola Cuevas (penelope Cruz) and two renowned actors, owners of enormous talent, but with an even bigger ego: Hollywood actor Felix Rivero (Antonio Banderas) and the radical theater actor Iván Torres (Oscar Martinez).
They are both legends, but not exactly best friends. Through a series of increasingly eccentric tests set by Lola, Felix and Iván must face not only each other, but also with their own legacies.
