The International Jazz Festival culminated with great success

With the presence of more than 30 thousand people who enjoyed the concerts of almost 300 artists distributed in 19 spaces and 46 antique dealers, the Buenos Aires International Jazz Festival ended.

For four days, the number of concerts exceeded 40, joining workshops, swing masterclass and classes, activities mostly sold out; all under the direction of singer Julia Moscardini.

This edition of the festival was a tool that accompanied and encouraged the reactivation of the sector, linking with iconic private spaces of the genre such as Jazz clubs.

The Usina del Arte was one of the venues that hosted a large number of concerts. Among them those of Magali Fernández who presented her album "Don´t Get Scared", Cavalli-Romero Jazz Duo, Hernán Jacinto Trío and Barbie Martínez Septeto and Ernesto Jodos Quinteto.

At the closing of the festival, it took place on sunday 7 to 20 in La Usina, with the presentation of Escalandrum, a sold out room. Born at the beginning of the year 1999, is one of the most original groups on the Argentine jazz scene, the audience cheered them at the end of the performance that closed this BA Jazz Festival. Formed by Damián Fogiel in tenor saxophone; Nicolás Guerschberg on piano; Gustavo Musso on tenor and soprano saxophones; Martín Pantyrer on baritone sax and bass clarinet; Mariano Sivori on double bass and Daniel Pipi Piazzola on drums, grandson of the mythical Astor Piazzolla who is one hundredth anniversary of his birth.

Jazz clubs, they were an important part of the Festival. Each one with its particularities, brought the sounds of jazz to the streets of Palermo. At Bebop there were intimate shows and on the outdoor terrace. Virasoro joined the festival hosting the JAM. At Thelonious there was a crossover and concert. And Borges, space that has been strongly positioned in the jazz scene, had two concerts and two clinics.

There were also proposals to enjoy the outdoors. Delfina Oliver Quintet played in the Japanese Garden. The Singer presented her album Tokyo Sessions live (2020). The Japanese drum group Buenos Aires Taiko participated as guests.

In Centennial Park, meanwhile, they played Flopa Suksdorf Septet and The Funk Foundation. In Chile and Balcarce the Calle de la Música worked. Different bars in the area hosted proposals: jazz trios and quartets, acoustic shows, swing classes and big bands.

On Sunday Hilvanando Jazz was held, a bicycle tour in which public, musicians and the festival was rediscovering the city. It started at the Lanteri subway station on line H, with stops on the Paseo del Bajo esplanade, the Buenos Aires Museum (BAM) y I Am Lacan. Dj Bad Boy Orange guided the activity, that was musicalizing the tour with the best of Jazz.
