The prequel to "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" is a reality and the young actor who will take on the role of Willy Wonka will be Timothée Chalamet, as confirmed by Warner Bros.

"Wonka" will be the name of the film that will serve as a prelude to the great "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" and will hit theaters in March next year., with the direction of Paul King.

The history, written by Simon Rich, will tell the beginnings of Wonka, the character from Roal Dahl's novel played by Johnny Deep in “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”, de Tim Burton, of 2005.

As reported by Deadline, quoted by the German news agency DPA news, ‘Wonka’ will be a musical about the origins of the teacher and creator of the iconic chocolate factory that Charlie Bucket visits in the novel by the author of ‘Matilda’ and 'The witches'. For it, Chalamet will have to train his physique as, besides singing, must make his character dance.

It is worth noting that in January of this year, the company was torn between Chalamet and Tom Holland (Spider-Man) for the role of Willy Wonka, as specified by the specialized site Collider.

Now, the interpreter of ‘Beautiful Boy’ will take on the role once immortalized on screen by Gene Wilder in 1971 and Johnny Depp in 2015.

King, besides directing the tape, will write the script together with Simon Farnaby (‘Mindhorn’, ‘Paddington 2’).

Previously, there were drafts of the libretto written by Simon Rich, Simon Stephenson, Jeff Nathason and Steven Levenson.

The project is produced by David Heyman, producer of the saga ‘Harry Potter’ and also producer of the two 'Paddington' tapes.
