Filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola, responsible for the trilogy of "The Godfather", refused to be behind a fourth installment, although he did not rule out that Paramount studios continue with the story of the Corleone family.

These statements by the brilliant director were given in the framework of an interview he gave to the New York Times, where he agreed to make some modifications to the third part of the film, which was released at the time 1990.

Started in 1972 and based on the book by Mario Puzo, "The Godfather" became one of the most successful films inspired by the world of the mafia and a true gem of the Seventh Art.

The trilogy marked the rise and fall of Michael Corleone, the character that was played by Al Pacino.

According to Coppola, "There may be a Godfather IV, V y VI´. I am not the owner of 'The Godfather' ". Although he was always reluctant to be part of the project.

In that context, he detailed: “I felt like the first movie had the whole story I saw in the book. I won't. I'm older".

On the side of Paramount Pictures, the reactivation of the franchise is not something that is in the plans in the short term although through a statement it was explained that “given the enduring power of its legacy, it is still a possibility if the correct story appears ".

One of the interesting points that Coppola revealed during the interview was the fact of thinking about a fourth installment in the late 1990s., with a solid history that marks the advancement of Vincent Corleone, the character played by Andy García. However, those plans were frustrated with the death of Mario Puzo., occurred in 1999.
