Canal Encuentro will premiere next Wednesday at 21.40 the short film “They killed the poet” on the occasion of 85 anniversary of the arrest of the poet Federico García Lorca by the forces of Francoism.

The short film based on poems by Lorca, directed by Gato Martínez Cantó and starring Francisco Lumerman, will be broadcast at the end of the movie “Dance the blood” (free version of “Blood Wedding”, from Lorca), also from the same author and director, in co-direction with Eloísa Tarruella that will be broadcast on the Encuentro screen at 20.30.

“The poetry of the Andalusian overflows time and space and today, a 85 years of his execution, a threading of three of his poems is transformed into a narrative and epiphany of his death”, He said he sang about Lorca.

“But -he added- we are not only left with that in this experimental short: We look for a Lorca step beyond the recitation. Lorca's poetry is sung and danced”. (TELAM)
