As part of the BIENALSUR, the artist Damián Linossi will inaugurate his intervention "Magia Delay" at the San Martín Theater.

The appointment will take place this Tuesday 16 of November (from 18.30) in the Alfredo Alcón Hall of the traditional Buenos Aires complex located on Corrientes Avenue 1530.

In this play, which will run until 27 February (Tuesday to Sunday 12.30 a 20 hours with free admission), the artist takes up the architecture of the Morris columns, devices from the mid-nineteenth century that were used in Europe to concentrate street advertising and prevent the dispersal of posters throughout the city, according to what was indicated by Liliana Piñeiro, who is part of the BIENALSUR curatorship team.

In that context, "The columns were the support for the promotion of theater and cinema, and they became popular in the West until they fell into disuse and became urban ruins or monuments of a visual culture in decline in the face of the rise of the mass media in the 20th century ".

Piñeiro clarifies that “this public display device here becomes a support for the artist's pictorial production, a kind of individual gallery space. The poster -precarious, perishable, volatile- is replaced by layered overlays of oil paintings thought, paradoxically, to survive the artist and be treasured. Here, Conversely, they go out into the public sphere through a device that makes them fragile by ignoring the famous imperative of “do not touch” that defines the traffic in exhibitions. The works are symbolically abandoned by their creator to be at the mercy of passersby and their desire under the implicit permission to take them away., alter them, or even vandalize them ".

"In times of extensive questioning about the prevailing socioeconomic system, this work discusses with the visual culture that corresponds to it and opens questions about the role of the image and art in the public sphere and also about the notions of intellectual and material property ", end the text.
