Darín was awarded and applauded at the Mar del Plata Festival
The outstanding Argentine actor Ricardo Darín was awarded the Astor Lifetime Achievement Award in the framework of the edition 37 the Mar del Plata International Film Festival.
After the screening of his most recent film, “Argentina, 1985”, the actor was applauded at the Auditorium Theater of the seaside resort.
In addition to the award and public recognition, Darín was received in the hall by the Minister of Culture of the Nation, Tristan Bauer, and the acting vice-president of the presidency of INCAA, Nicolás Battle, where they contemplated a projection that summarized their work in some of the greatest successes of national cinema such as "Nine queens", "The son of the bride" , "A Chinese story, “The Secret in Their Eyes” and “Wild Tales”.
At that moment, the festival authorities, Pablo Conde and Fernando Juan Lima, they gave him the Astor Canillita Award for Lifetime Achievement for an intense career, prestigious, popular and applauded throughout the world.
visibly excited, Darín confessed that "I did not expect" the award but "I like it very much". He also maintained that "hugs are always well received".
For his part, and with respect to “Argentina, 1985” (film by Santiago Miter that is being screened during the Festival), who played prosecutor Strassera said: I hope you enjoyed this movie, that has mobilized them, helped to reflect, travel back a little bit and see some of the things that are important to us, the argentines, that so many times we get used to hitting ourselves, to belittle us, to not focus on the good things we have. I think our film humbly, I don't know if humbly, but yes cautiously, remembers a very important moment in Argentina and the Argentines. Not only because of what it means for us, but because of what it meant and means in the case of an unprecedented event in the world”.
