The chamamé was declared on Wednesday Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by Unesco, after a vote in Paris that sparked festivities in the province of Corrientes.

The chamamé thus became the third Argentine cultural asset declared a world heritage site, after the tango and the porteño fillet.

The proposal approved in the cultural organ of the United Nations Organization arose from the Argentine State through a proposal from the Government of Corrientes.
