Featured artists to tell Irish stories online
From this Thursday until Sunday 13 September will be presented "Towards the twilight", a new artistic proposal where seven artists will narrate traditional Irish tales with a cinematographic atmosphere.
This Oscar Barney Finn creation will have the participation of Marta Lubos, Sebastian Dartayete, Pablo Mariuzzi, Roberto Mosca, Cecilia Chiarandini, Paulo Brunetti and Pablo Flores Maini; who will be in charge of bringing to the screen the texts inspired by "The Celtic Twilight", de William Butler Yeats.
As Barney Finn explains, since childhood he was always attracted to "the other side of the mirror", meaning this "a challenge, an exciting vertigo that pulled me out of reality to fly over the unknown. Fairies, gnomes, goblins, mermaids and giants fired my imagination, fed by grandmothers and aunts who built Celtic legends and mythologies ".
The director added that a few years ago “I recovered something of that world when I returned to Dublin., and travel to Mullingar, in Whesthmeeth County. The ruins of my great-grandparents' old stone house, and the landscape of rainy fields on a winter day were the magical pass for those stories to return ".
“There were no bonfires that summoned, but in the evening of the little cemetery surrounded by family tombstones, I sensed goblins and gnomes. Then, when I returned I read the work of Conor McPherson, "The dam", and I was certain that those same stories inspired and fed the plot. Each of the moving monologues that the protagonists had, summoned to that pub, in the middle of the night and the field, they were renewed presences of the intangible but real world that inhabited those places, and that they had accompanied those peasants and their oral traditions ", He held.
Cuando Barney Finn leyó la obra que William Butler Yates escribió a principios del siglo XX ("The Celtic Twilight" and "The Secret Rose"), he thought he could do something with those texts, and the opportunity “arose in the framework of this long wait and, with the creative contribution of the actors who have accompanied me in my last performances, we get down to business. Undoubtedly the texts inspired me and I thought it would be attractive to symbolically recreate the fire around which the stories were given, in the middle of a thick and silent forest. Definitely: create a favorable climate that makes real those stories that populate the literature and the fields of Ireland ".
It should be noted that the show will remain available from 0 Thursday hours until 24 Sunday hours. As for the towns, are available through the Alternative Theater platform.
