Argentine directors were awarded at the Sitges Festival
Within the framework of the Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia (Sitges), Two national filmmakers were highlighted for their productions "Marea alta" and "Los que vuel".
It's about Verónica Chen and Paulina Casabé, who got the Blood Window awards ("The High Sea") and New Visions ("Those who return"), respectively.
In that context, “Marea Alta” was distinguished as Best Ibero-American Film; while "Those who return" was distinguished as Best Direction.
In his movie, Chen places the plot in the framework of a renovation of a summer house. There the protagonist will be invaded by the workers in a story that makes its way to pure suspense on topics such as sexism, the class struggle and the mechanisms of power.
Meanwhile, Casabe places us in the early 20th century, a historical drama that blends with supernatural terror in a jungle landscape. A desperate woman invokes Iguazu to bring her son back to life. He does it even though, for the indigenous, is prohibited.
Both films were part of the Blood Window label's selection of Ibero-American films in Sitges, fruit of the articulation of the National Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual Arts with the Catalan Festival, that this year had great participation from the national cinema.
On the other hand, "The enigmatic element", Alejandro Fadel, was highlighted with a special mention from the jury in the Noves Visions section, while "Distant Light – Part 1, The unfortunate ones ”, from the director Santiago Reale, won the award for best short film Noves Visions Petit. further, Demián Rugna won the Runner up Award for his film “When evil stalks”.
