The Disney + platform made the determination to remove films such as "Peter Pan" from the children's catalog”, “Dumbo”, "The Lady and the Tramp" and "The Aristocats" for considering them racist.

These films were considered as content suitable only for those over seven years old and were blocked in children's profiles because they considered they include racist stereotypes.

Beyond this decision, the mentioned productions will continue on the platform, but in the adult section. further, each one will have a warning that informs about stereotypes "that were wrong then and are wrong now", as reported by the company in a statement.

In october of last year, Disney + already included these warnings at the beginning of films like "The Jungle Book" (1967), advertising the racist connotations your old movies may contain.

"These stereotypes were wrong then and they are wrong now. Instead of deleting this content, we want to acknowledge its damaging impact, learn from it and generate conversations to create a more inclusive future together”, explained the company, explaining the reasons why they did not alter the content of the films.

"Disney is committed to creating stories with inspiring themes that reflect the rich diversity of the human experience around the world.", the warning concludes.
