Legendary reggae vocalist Frederick "Toots" Hibbert passed away over the weekend at 77 years, after being admitted to the University Hospital of the West Indies located in Kingston.

The leader of The Maytals was a true legend within the genre and had just released his first studio album in a decade. Right now, The local press is waiting for the official statement from the hospital to find out if his death was due to COVID-19.

The creator of hits like “54-46 Was My Number”, "Monkey Man" and "Pressure Drop" was fired through a statement from the family through social networks. He himself explained that the musician "left in peace and surrounded by his family".
