There are two cities, a story, a sample carried out jointly by the Museum of the Cabildo of Buenos Aires and Montevideo Cabildo. It traces the history of the links between Montevideo and Buenos Aires from its founding to 1817.
Few rivers in the world have in their banks over a national capital. The Rio de la Plata is among them. But Buenos Aires and Montevideo were already there before being capitals of modern countries. Their bond is before Argentina existed and Uruguay. This sample, conducted jointly between museums of Montevideo Cabildo and the Cabildo of Buenos Aires, deals with the first century of relationship between the two cities, of its connected ports, slaves and people of African origin, of the English invasions, confrontation after the revolution of 1810. A time sometimes forgotten but essential to understand. Two cities, rivals and sisters. Same story.
