Two couples from CABA and one from Chubut won the Tango World Cup

More of 110.000 people enjoyed the Tango Festival and World Cup, which this Tuesday played its finals at the Movistar Arena stadium.

The couples of Fátima Caracoch and Brenno Marques became champions, from CABA, in the Track Tango category; Ayelén Morando and Sebastián Martínez, from CABA, in Tango Stage; and Marcela Jara and Luis Mario Saihueque, by Trelew, Chubut, in Senior Tango.

“The Festival and the Tango World Cup put the City at the center of the world scene. The city vibrates tango: They are generations that come together and only this music can achieve that. So investing in culture is the best type of investment you can make.. It is identity, it's cultural, “It is a way of work and life.”, said the Head of the Buenos Aires Government, Jorge Macri, who gave the prizes to the winners. In the final they competed 40 couples in Pista Tango, 20 in Tango Stage and 10 in Senior Tango (more of 55 years). They had all passed the qualifying rounds and the semifinals at the Usina del Arte. In total they participated 750 couples of 53 countries, which marked a record of registrations, for both professionals and amateurs.

“Tango is a music that heals us with our past, with our history and with our old people. Congratulations to the competitors and artists who were part of this wonderful show”, added Jorge Macri.

Along with the World Cup, the Tango Festival was held, which began on 14 August and closed on Sunday with a concert by the Buenos Aires Tango Orchestra, with Nestor Marconi, at the Teatro Colon. for two weeks, the festival had concerts, exhibits, dance classes and milongas, and it was the most convening in its history. Total, more of 70 thousand people enjoyed 500 free activities in 40 venues with the participation of 2 thousand artists.
