Two rolls of wallpaper painted by David Bowie to be auctioned
This Tuesday 28 April the traditional Sotheby’s house will host the auction of two rolls of wallpaper painted by the late musician David Bowie, whose price could exceed 70 one thousand dollars.
These achievements correspond to a collaboration that the musician carried out in 1995 together with textile designer Laura Ashley, with whom Bowie created a series of tapestries inspired by mythological figures and modern psychology.
In this context, among the works in question is “Confilct”, that was part of the musician's debut exhibition “New Afro / Pagan and work: 1975-1995”, which took place at the Saatchi Gallery in London. “Conflict”, precisely mixes a floral design with Lucian Freud's nude self-portraits.
The other embodiment is "Minotaur", It also features a pattern of repeated images and is inspired by the creations of the famous Spanish artist Pablo Picasso.
Regarding the values that are handled for the auction, “Conflict” is expected to have a sale price ranging from 25 Y 40 one thousand dollars; while "Minotaur" has a value between 20 thousand 30 thousand of the American currency.
During the same auction, Selected works of modern and contemporary art will also appear, which includes creations by Pablo Picasso, Joan Miro, Jasper Johns y Andy Warhol.
