Alberto Ure believed that all the gestures and words that we saw and heard persist in the gestures and words we pronounce: those of our parents, our grandparents looked at by these, the theater we saw. "The Ure Factor" (as María Moreno would say) heated, since the last years 60, part of the sensitivity of our national theater, especially its most vociferous corners, stirrers, radicals.
Among his readings of the Greek theater, of Sophocles' works subjugated Ure: The trachnyas and Oedipus the King. Of the second, left a translation and written version with Elisa Carnelli. In a delicate and intense exercise in dialogue and ventriloquism, Cristina Banegas and Esteban Bieda revised the original translation: they took away, They left, rewrote and incorporated fragments of other tragedies, like the famous verse 393 of Oedipus in Colonus: "When I no longer exist, just now I am a man ".
Dramaturgy, adaptation and version of this Oedipus (written, We could say, ten hands) Submits that, in a present marked by the hyperbolic valuation of individual freedoms, Oedipus Rex represents a return to the foundations of that being-in-the-world that we are. Even though they are few - or, even, none - decisions we make voluntarily against our own well-being, the limited ability to understand the whole of which we are part, make us on many occasions the main contributors to our ruin. The imperative that commands "living well" at all costs and at all times ends up being the engine of misery. Oedipus Rex puts on stage the consequences of those who stubbornly ignore the command that orders them to suffer, of those who persist in avoiding evil and, So, He magnifies it to extremes bordering on what is humanly bearable. Because the first to punish Oedipus is Oedipus himself: when taking your eyes off, exile his soul from the world of the living, to later exile his body, that he will never return to the Thebes where he was born and that he will never see him die.
The artistic collaboration is from Graciela Camino and Liza Cusullo, the choreography of Jazmin Titiunik, the original music on stage by Carmen Baliero, lighting and video by Jorge Pastorino, Greta Ure's wardrobe, the scenography and audiovisual design of Juan José Cambre.
