The 18th FICM will present a program dedicated to Gilberto Martínez Solares
The Morelia International Film Festival (Ficm), with the support of Fundación Televisa and the Cineteca Nacional, will present in its 18th edition a program dedicated to the prolific Mexican filmmaker Gilberto Martínez Solares.
Solares is a key figure in Mexican cinema, whose contribution to the Seventh Art occurred between 1938 Y 1979, period in which he directed more than 150 films, many of them, big box office wins.
His magnificent work in film was not limited to directing: It was also, in its beginnings, star photographer, stillman, lighter, camera operator and cinematographer; after, Screenwriter for at least half of the films he directed and some more directed by other colleagues; occasional actor and, Finally, producer - next to his son Adolfo - with his company Frontera Films.
“No other director understood the tastes of the general public like Don Gilberto. Even in the moments of greatest crisis of the national cinema, his films were profitable and popular ”, expressed the curator Héctor Orozco, by Fundación Televisa.
The program dedicated to Gilberto Martínez Solares will present "Santo and Blue Demon against the monsters" (1970) and a copy restored by Fundación Televisa, in collaboration with the Cineteca Nacional, of "Tender zucchini" (1949).
further, within the framework of the 18th FICM, and in collaboration with Fundación Televisa, a photographic exhibition dedicated to Gilberto Martínez Solares will be presented in the Andador Hidalgo in the Plaza Benito Juárez, from Morelia.
