These definitive editions are scheduled to celebrate the 25 album recording anniversary, and will also contain the original album remastered by GRAMMY-winning engineer Bernie Grundman.

“Vicenta” is the first of the unreleased tracks taken from the album sessions by 1996, that have been selected for these editions by producer Ry Cooder and executive producer Nick Gold. A vocal duo between Buena Vista starring Eliades Ochoa and Compay Segundo, a classic composition by Compay Segundo, that tells the story of a well-known fire that on April 1, 1909 destroyed almost the entire town of La Maya.

The history, Buena Vista Social Club authenticity and mystique burns as brightly today as ever for fans new and old. The 26 March 1996, the trio formed by the Cuban conductor Juan de Marcos González, American producer and guitarist Ry Cooder and British record label owner and producer Nick Gold assembled an impromptu group of Cuban musicians at the historic EGREM studios / Areito from the decade of 1950 in Centro Habana. Most of those gathered were famous veterans of the golden age of the Cuban music scene of the 1940s and 1950s.. None of them had any idea that the recordings they were about to produce would change the lives of many people., including themselves, and would forever change the position of Cuban music in the world. “Buena Vista Social Club” was the name that was given both to this extraordinary group of musicians and to the album, recorded in just seven days. The study, property of the national seal of Cuba EGREM, was originally installed in the decade of 1940 and is celebrated as a great gem in recording history. The wood paneled great room allowed the recording to take place with the entire recorded ensemble playing “Live”, which places the listener in the room among the musicians. There is no doubt that this played an important role in the magical sound of the final recordings..

It was clear from the atmosphere of the recording sessions that something very special was happening., but no one could have predicted that “Buena Vista Social Club” would become a worldwide phenomenon.: received a Grammy in 1997 Y, with 8 million copies, outsold any other album of the same genre. The impact of those sessions is still felt 25 years later, and the vitality and seductive charm of Cuba's rich history and culture shines as brightly as ever in these definitive recordings.. The acclaim for the original album has elevated the artists (including Ibrahim Ferrer, Eliades Ochoa, Second Compay, Rubén González and Omara Portuondo) to superstar category, inspired an award-winning film by Wim Wenders and has helped popularize Cuba's rich musical heritage. Produced by Ry Cooder for World Circuit, The timeless quality of the music and the sheer enthusiasm of veteran performers have ensured that this is one of the historic recordings of the 20th century..
