The Borges Cultural Center presented two new exhibitions

This Thursday the exhibitions “Marcos López: Classic and Modern. Recent Works” and “The Breccia Case” that can be seen at the Borges Cultural Center.

First, López's exhibition brings together a series of ninety images, and that of Breccia is made up of works that were stolen and recovered by INTERPOL. Both can be visited from Wednesday to Sunday (of 14 a 20 hours), With free entry.

The sample “Marcos López: Classic and Modern” brings together a series of ninety images: some of the author himself and others found in antiquarians and, then, hand painted and intervened. López buys the photos in antique shops or flea markets in Buenos Aires and other Latin American cities., and works with all kinds of materials. A) Yes, resignifies them and turns them into unique pieces.

This multidisciplinary creator uses infinite variables when working with images and provokes a kind of "precarious surrealism", in his own words, while preserving the original magic of the photographs.

in the sample “The Breccia Case”, a set of originals by the aforementioned artist is exhibited, recognized as one of the greatest cartoonists not only in Argentina, but in the world.

Because of a succession trial, the materials that were in the cartoonist's house –in Haedo– were deposited in the safe of a security company that went bankrupt in 2005. Then, the pieces were stolen and illegally sold abroad.

The originals that are exposed –with judicial authorization– were recovered by INTERPOL-Buenos Aires and remain in their custody until the pending cases are completed..

Outside of display, several stolen pieces were located in Europe, but the justice of the countries where they were found decided not to return them, and of others it has not yet been possible to discover their whereabouts. But nevertheless, tienen orden de secuestro internacional.

The sample includes, also, two audiovisual productions that complete the information on this unusual, complex and painful destiny of an exceptional work.
