Written and directed by Valentin Boraud and starring Emilien Diard-Detœuf, Morgane Nairaud and Loïc Riewer, the show “Molière in spite of himself” will have a single performance at the Cervantes National Theater.

With translation by Agustina Blanco, this play by the Nouveau Théâtre Populaire will take place on Friday 4 November from the 20 in the María Guerrero room of the traditional Buenos Aires venue.

This project is carried out within the framework of the special program for the performing arts in Spanish-speaking South America., with the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Culture of France and the Institut français de Paris.

The play revolves around the life of the man who became a legend of French theater. Within that context, Moliere, -more eager to perfect his comedic performance than to fight the tragedies of the day-, will become this skillful man, thanks to its simple writing, sparkly, subtle and unsettling, their facial expressions, his gift for imitation and his very particular way of performing on stage, and attract popular audiences as well as the King, his family and court.

It is Molière himself who will tell his own life in the theater, revealing different facets of his intimacy in spite of himself. We have little left of Molière apart from his works. Everything we can imagine of the man comes from invented and romanticized biographies, most of the time imprecise and crude. Thus, the main support of this work will be the biography Molière of Georges Forestier. This work offers the account of precise facts, the only truths that form a solid basis for imagining what Molière's life was like.

It is worth noting that the work will be in French with subtitles in Spanish. As for inputs, They can be purchased at the box office of the venue or through Alternativa Teatral, the same day of the performance and from 10 hours.
