National cinema stood out in the edition 73 of the Berlinale
The productions "Inside me I am dancing", by Leandro Koch and Paloma Schachmann and "The face of the jellyfish", by Melisa Liebenthal were highlighted within the framework of the new edition of the Berlin International Film Festival.
Both productions were part of a delegation made up of six Argentine films, marking a great national presence in the outstanding meeting held in the aforementioned European country.
“Inside me I am dancing” was chosen as Best First Film in the Encounters section, dedicated to new cinematic visions. For the first time, a national production stands out at the Festival in this category.
On the other hand, the feature film “The face of the jellyfish”, who participated in the Forum section, was awarded the CICAE prize of the Artistic Film Association, awarded by an independent jury. The film had also won the Best Director award at the last edition of the Mar del Plata International Film Festival..
Together with the award-winning The Face of the Medusa, in the Forum section, dedicated to new cinematographic languages, "Arturo at 30" participated, by Martín Shanly, and the movie "The Trial", Ulises of the Order, which had its world premiere in the competition.
"I woke up with a dream", by Pablo Solarz –a co-production with Uruguay– and “Almamula”, by Juan Sebastián Torales –filmed entirely in Santiago del Estero–, participated in the Generation section, a program focused on younger audiences. Solarz's film was screened to a full room and was attended by its young protagonists, who received a long standing ovation from the public present after the screening.
The documentary "The Castle", by Martin Benchimol, winner in the Work in Progress section of the last edition of the San Sebastian Festival, integrated the Panorama section. In this first film that Benchimol directs alone, A domestic worker inherits from her former employer a huge mansion in the middle of the Argentine pampas., with the only condition that he never sells it.
further, "Roger on the Loose", project by Natalia Smirnoff, participated in the Berlinale Co-Production Market, a space dedicated to films in development; and Juliet Amalric, director and screenwriter; Julia Castro, director and sound engineer; y Laura Huberman, producer and director, were part of Berlinale Talents, the training platform for emerging talents of the Festival.
