Director David Lynch closed a new edition of SITGES
This Sunday the number edition ended 53 of the International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia (SITGES) what, in its virtual mode, had the presence of the prominent David Lynch for a gala closing.
After eleven days, the meeting had the participation of Lynch who, from his home in Los Angeles, received his award, the Sitges Grand Honorary Prize 2020.
Director, screenwriter, producer or actor, Lynch has been recognized since the beginning of the Festival, by way of recognition for his long career and his contribution to cinema since "Eraserhead" (1977) hasta “Twin Peaks: The Return” (2017).
In that concept, films such as "The Elephant Man" paraded through the virtual meeting (1980) -tape that closed Sitges 2020 celebrating the 40th anniversary with its 4K remastering-; “Dune” (1984); “Blue Velvet” (1986) (winner of the Festival in that year); “Wild at Heart” (1990); “Lost Highway” (1997); “The Straight Story” (1999); “Mulholland Drive” (2001) o “Inland Empire” (2006), all a masterful cinematography that Sitges has wanted to honor.
The 53rd edition of the Sitges Festival has provided a moment to remember and commemorate great fantastic titles that celebrate anniversaries. Along with the screening of "TheElephant Man" at the closing, on Saturday "Total Challenge" could be seen (30Th anniversary) and throughout the last day “Flash Gordon” has been screened, by Mike Hodges and "The Empire Strikes Back", de Irvin Kershner. Both tapes celebrate their 40 years of existence and the Festival has wanted to pay tribute to them as essential pieces in the history of fantastic.
