This Wednesday the Mar del Plata International Film Festival announced the opening for the registration of films that wish to be part of the edition 35 of the prestigious meeting that takes place in the Buenos Aires seaside resort.

Organized by the National Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual Arts (INCAA), the festival will take place between 21 Y 29 November and, as stated by the president of the meeting, Juan Fernando Lima, this time it will be carried out "against the wind, tide and pandemic ".

It is "a particularly difficult year, in the framework of circumstances that no one would have imagined ”says the manager, who maintains that “the decision to carry out the 35th edition of the Mar del Plata International Film Festival is a way of accompanying our cinema, to recover the value of a meeting place and culture, to be close to our artists and our public ".

For Lima, "When we thought of growing back, the pandemic forced us to rethink ideas, programs and schemes. But that this edition takes place is of great importance to affirm the relevance and continuity of this beautiful event that is part of our culture and our relationship with the world ".

Cecilia Barrionuevo appears in the same line, artistic director of the Festival, who supports the fact of continuing to defend the need to sustain the experience of cinema as a meeting place, of cinema as a collective and enriching experience ".

“The format of the Festival will be adapted to the decisions taken considering the health situation and ensuring, first, the health of each and everyone. The Festival team also wants to express its support for those who have gone through and are experiencing difficulties related to the pandemic ", he added.
