The Unconventional Festival presents "Drumming", his new show
With a presentation that will be made freely and free of charge, the Unconventional Festival announced the arrival of “Drumming”, his most recent minimalist percussion show.
The performance will be this Friday. 5 of August from 18 in the Garden Gallery, located on pedestrian Florida 537 of downtown Buenos Aires and will have the presence of 9 percussionists, two female voices, whistle and piccolo.
“Drumming”, Steve Reich, will be performed by the percussion ensemble Tambor Fantasma and guest musicians.
In addition to being one of the great composers of the last fifty years, Steve Reich (1936) is a true cultural celebrity whose work has broken the boundaries of academic music, incorporating elements of jazz, African rock and rhythms in intelligent and exciting pieces that attract a diverse and massive audience.
Drumming (1971) is widely considered the first masterpiece of North American minimalism. It is an extremely clear and energetic piece.: listening to her, it is possible to perceive how the rhythmic structures are gradually built, from simple to complex. In Reich's characteristic games of unisons and phase shifts, new rhythms are constantly generated that move through three different types of timbres (percussion, voices and flute). The tension and intensity of the music build little by little until it reaches an exciting and abrupt ending..
This proposal is a true ritual music because it implies a kind of choreography in its interpretation.. The way in which the musicians take turns giving it a strongly community character, reinforced by the fact that it is a work absolutely written, but it is played from memory.
Phantom Drum is composed of: Bruno Lo Bianco, Oscar Albrieu Roca, Gonzalo Perez Terranova, Daniela Cervetto, Gabriel Rodriguez, Lucas Castelli, Lucas Udrisar, Pedro Montes de Oca, and Salvador Roldan. The voices will be in charge of Virginia Majorel, Lucia Lalanne. While Patricia García will be on the flute, with sound by Ariel Passadore.
