Recently, the National Museum of Fine Arts presented the donation of a body of work made up of hundreds of pieces by Libero Badii, emblematic figure of Argentine art of the 20th century.

This presentation, which is incorporated into the collection of the traditional Buenos Aires venue, was made possible thanks to a donation made by BBVA in Argentina..

The Legacy of Libero Badii (Arezzo, Italy, 1916-Buenos Aires, Argentina, 2001) comprises paintings, sculptures, engravings, ceramics, artist's drawings and documents, produced between the decades of 1940 Y 1980.

This important set includes, among other fundamental pieces of his production, the sculptures “The Point” (1967), "Ariadne" (1969), "Artistic Testament" (1974) and the mother" (1976), work that was exhibited in the central hall of the Museum, as a presentation of the donation, since Tuesday 25 October.

About this outstanding addition, the director Andrés Duprat said that it is "an honor and a great responsibility", and I add: “We are aware of being part of an institution that has become a beacon for Argentine and regional culture., for having gathered, throughout the years, an invaluable heritage, built in part thanks to important donations such as the one made on this occasion”. “

Meanwhile, Martín Zarich –executive president of BBVA in our country- He explained that art "has much more value when it is available to all people and can be observed and interpreted in multiple ways.".

Within that context, The director affirmed that for the entity he presides over “it is an honor to be able to donate this valuable work by the master Libero Badii to the prestigious National Museum of Fine Arts”.

The Museum received the set of works on loan in 2021 Y, since then, the process of cataloging and registration in the Borges Cultural Center advances, where the Libero Badii Reserve-Workshop is located. The total of this legacy is estimated, in approximate numbers, in 135 sculptures, 72 paintings, near 100 prints and many other framed drawings, almost 200 folders of drawings and prints, 50 artist's books and ceramic pieces.

Likewise, this collection also contains graphic work by Badii (posters, illustrations and sketches), as well as their work tools, that were part of the BBVA Argentina Foundation collection for more than thirty years. this heritage, which is added to the corpus of 70 pieces of the artist present in the Museum, will allow completing the various periods of its singular trajectory. further, this vast collection of works will make the Fine Arts the owner of the most complete Badii collection in the world.
