Through its Department of Culture, AMIA presents a new online theater show, "The evil of the stone", that can be enjoyed for free.

To see this new proposal, it will simply be necessary to register in advance. In "The sea of stone", the spectator will be located in the Basilica of the Valley of the Fallen, monument built by Francisco Franco, place where a discursive battle over morals and convictions will be unleashed.

The work will be available from Monday 22 of March, on the entity's platform. There will remain the 24 hours during 7 days after publication.

In "The sea of stone", the meeting between two people who think differently about the same topic should be the initial factor to learn to build on dissent. Finding the common ground between antagonistic positions in order to weigh and enhance them is a clearly more complex task than reacting with violence because it implies recognizing pride and intolerance in our own discourse in the first place and then being able to pierce it and break it; just like water does to stone in the Valley of the Fallen.

That is why the company took Blanca Doménech's text as a starting point. Because through it a powerful introspection is heard that serves as a concrete example of the practice of questioning ourselves first, to be able to approach a much more constructive exchange later.

“El mal de la piedra” by Blanca Doménech is the second project by the El Vacío Fértil theater company after “De tiburones y otros remoras” by Sergio Villanueva, work premiered in 2018 in Madrid and Buenos Aires.

This text, directed by Tony Lestingi, features performances by Romina Pinto and Iván Steinhardt.
