The Film Museum held a retrospective dedicated to Jana Bokova

From Friday 7 of June, the Museum of Cinema Pablo C. Ducros Hicken will conduct a retrospective dedicated to Czech director Jana Bokova to arrive in London especially for the occasion.

This meeting will run on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays June, with free admission on the premises located on Caffarena 51 in the neighborhood of La Boca.

First, -from Friday 20 and only once in the auditorium of the Bar Association of Capital Federal, located on Avenida Corrientes 1441- a dialogue with the principal will be made and also "Tango Salon will be shown, confectionery ideal ".

Born in Prague 1968, Bokova has lived between France, Argentina and England, where he learned to exercise his doctorate in Fine Arts, in the fields of photography and surrealism.

Among his works he appears as a photographer working with the US edition of the prestigious magazine Rolling Stone and later studied at the National Film School in England.

His first feature documentary -Militia Battlefield (1975)-, He earned him the First Prize for Best Director in Hyère. In 1982 the National Film Theater screened the first retrospective to his work that has also had reviews in London, Paris (retrospective at the French Cinematheque in 2002, and Prague. He made numerous documentaries for BBC (standing out, “Quinn Running” sobre Anthony Quinn, "Tango Mío" with the greats of Argentine tango and "Havana", one of the first documentaries about life in Cuba).

He has directed fictions as "Hotel du Paradis" (Official Selection of the Cannes Film Festival) and "Journal for a story" (San Sebastián selection, Chicago, Mar del Plata and Karlovy Vary), and works like "Eric Clapton and Friends" (2002) y “Bye Bye Shangai” (2008).

After the presentation at the Bar, the order of screenings at the Museum of Cinema is as follows:

Saturday 8 to 16 (repeats Friday 14 at 19hs). "Journal for a story" (1999).

Sunday 9 (repeated Sunday 30). "Tango mine" (1985).

Saturday 15 (repeats Friday 21 to 19). "Mexico City" (2000)

Sunday 16. “An argentinean journey” (1991-92).

Saturday 22. “Havana” (1990).

Sunday 23. "An Andalusian Journey" (1988).

Friday 28. "Tango Salon, confectionery ideal " (2004).

Saturday 29. “Bye bye Shanghái” (2008).

Sunday 30. "Cuentos de Barcelona" (1989).
