The Larreta Museum presents "Curious", your new virtual tour
From this Thursday the Enrique Larreta Museum of Spanish Art will carry out "Curios", its new virtual tour that will offer the possibility of appreciating works, books and the most relevant manuscripts of the famous writer and collector.
These tours can be enjoyed not only from the platform of the traditional Buenos Aires enclosure, but also from the site "Let's Live Culture", with free access.
Larreta (1873-1961, He was one of the most prestigious personalities of Buenos Aires who in his last years devoted himself to painting, and even dabbled in the cinema; going through the theater, genre in which he sublimated his histrionic personality.
In that context, Larreta was a precursor of the current of thought that, towards the Centennial of our homeland, advocated a return to Spanish roots. And his novel "La Gloria de don Ramiro" (1908), it was a kind of manifest.
Parallel to its collection of Spanish art, Larreta was forming his library. Some pieces will be presented from it, as the executions of nobility, documents certifying the authenticity of a hidalgo, some on parchment and illuminated with figures and shields, and interesting old books.
Also some letters and books dedicated to Larreta, by personalities like Paul Groussac, Ruben Dario, American Edith Wharton or Jorge Luis Borges.
"Curious" will aim to show the literary treasure, hidden from regular visitors, from the bibliographic collection of the Museum library, that in line with his artistic collection of Spanish art, adds the imprint of Enrique Larreta himself reflected not only in his personal books, but also in his letters, your documents and manuscripts.
The selection of the pieces of this tour was in charge of Ricardo Valerga, librarian of the Museum and of this new proposal in virtual format.
Although with the “new normal” and the reopening, it will be possible to visit the City Museums again with online shifts from their website and with strict protocols for entry, This tour is reserved to be appreciated only in virtual form during the months of November and December.
