With a varied schedule of shows and the presence of world-renowned artists, The Teatro Colón announced the programming for the next season.

Among the varied and extensive proposals that the Buenos Aires coliseum will offer are 15 lyrical titles, 5 ballets y 20 concerts of the subscription cycle of the Buenos Aires Philharmonic Orchestra.

On the other hand, throughout the year, the traditional porteño venue will house world-renowned artists such as Martha Argerich, Charles Dutoit, Nelson Goerner, Sergei Nakariakov, Anna Netrebko, Elina Garanca, Yusif Eyvazov, Bryn Terfel, Marianela Nunez, Natalia Osipova, Roberto Bolle, András Schiff, Maxim Vengerov, Erwin scrap, Maria João Pires, Vittorio Grigolo, Sonya Yoncheva, Mario Brunello and Giovanni Sollima.

In 2023, the program of the Colón will be part of Divina Italia, a collaboration between the Theater with the Embassy of Italy in Argentina and the Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Buenos Aires.

The person who opened the act was Jorge Telerman, General and Artistic Director of the Theater, accompanied by the Buenos Aires Minister of Culture Enrique Avogadro.

In his speech, Telerman maintained that the presentation of the season 2023 it is “an occasion to show that we are honoring the wonderful trajectory of this wonderful place but that we are also doing it in terms of the objectives and management commitments that we have assumed, to sustain an activity that jealously guards that virtuous tension between tradition and innovation, and that without a doubt lovingly cares for the link with its usual audiences, but that it also goes out to conquer new audiences" and added: “In those terms of content and in that search to maintain the usual conversation and generate new conversations, a process that has already begun this year and that will be seen even more forcefully during the 2023, We feel that this is the path and path that tells us that we are doing well here.".

According to Avogadro "The Teatro Colón is the reflection of our culture, of what we were, we are and can be. It will be a season that will encourage the avant-garde while maintaining the tradition of theater. further, Colón will go out strongly to look for new audiences throughout the territory. About the shows

Regarding the shows that will be part of the season, there is a tribute to the maestro Gerardo Gandini, upon completion 10 years of his death.

Within this framework, he will be honored throughout the season covering the opera, the Buenos Aires Philharmonic, the Experimentation Center, and special concerts, like the one that will be presented by Fito Páez.

There will be a Baroque music cycle and the Rachmaninov Festival, where the concerts for piano and orchestra of the great Russian artist will be developed in an integral way.

As part of an extraordinary concert, Luis Alberto Spinetta will be remembered after completing 50 years of the launch of Artaud, one of the most emblematic albums of national rock.

In March, the official kickoff of the season will be given by a special tribute to the 40 years of the recovery of democracy in Argentina: Resurrection, symphony no. 2 the Gustav Mahler, that will take place in the La Rural property with the format of a popular show.

The stage direction will be in the hands of Romeo Castellucci and the musical direction will be in charge of Charles Dutoit at the helm of the Buenos Aires Philharmonic Orchestra..

The Lyrical Season consists of 15 titles beginning in the month of March with “Fausto”, Charles Gounod's opera in 5 acts with musical direction by maestro Jan Latham Koenig and stage direction, scenography, locker room, and lighting by Stefano Poda.

The programming will be part of “Divine Italy”, a collaboration between the Theater with the Embassy of Italy in Argentina and the Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Buenos Aires.

Throughout the year, there will be new productions by the Teatro Colón such as "La Carrera del Libertino", with musical direction by Charles Dutoit; “The Turk in Italy”, stage direction by Pablo Maritano; “Madama Butterfly”, whose functions will have a musical direction alternated between the Musical Director of the Teatro Colón Jan Latham Koenig and the maestro Carlos Vieu; and "The Absent City", opera that will be part of the program focused on maestro Gandini whose musical director will be Christian Baldini, and the stage director will be Valentina Carrasco. this title, at the same time, will be part of the contemporary subscription together with the Latin American premiere of "Einstein on the Beach" and the production "Sun & Sea”, whose presentations will be held at the Colón Fábrica.

The concert versions of the operas "Anna Bolena" will also be presented, and "The Troubadour". The latter will feature the stellar participation of the baritone Fabian Veloz, tenor Yusif Eyvazov and soprano Anna Netrebko. The program will be completed with the staging of "The Magic Flute", with musical direction by Marcelo Ayub and the participation of the soprano Verónica Cangemi; and "The Merry Widow", with musical direction by Jan Latham Koenig.

The Chamber Opera of the Teatro Colón will arrive from the month of May at the Teatro Coliseo with its own production and revival of the season 2022, "Long live Mom! The theatrical conveniences and inconveniences” by Gaetano Donizetti. The other titles will be the opera in one act "Il campanello"; "The one who says yes", with music by Kurt Weill and “He Who Says No”, reversal of the first with music by Martín Matalón; and the oratorio for two voices “Humanity and Lucifer”.

Under the direction of Mario Galizzi, the Permanent Ballet of the Teatro Colón will present 5 Titles, which will begin in April with "Swan Lake", with Mario Galizzi’s choreographed version of the ballet by Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov, and the leading role of Marianela Nuñez, first ballerina of the Royal Ballet of London. The contemporary ballet “Caravaggio” will follow, based on music by Claudio Monteverdi and created by the Italian choreographer Mauro Bigonzetti that will feature the guest dancer Roberto Bolle; the mixed program made up of “Suite en Blanc and Windgames”, with choreography by Serge Lifar and Patrick de Bana, and musical direction by maestro Jan Lathan Koenig; "The Taming of the Shrew", choreographed by John Cranko, and general supervision of the artist Marcia Haydé as a guest; and the new production of the Teatro Colón "La Bayadera", with choreography by Rudolf Nureyev and the participation of the invited dancers Natalia Osipova, of the Royal Ballet of London, and Daniel Camargo, del American Ballet Theatre.

In the middle of the year, the arrival of the renowned Martha Argerich is expected, who will once again be in charge of the mythical Festival that has been named after him for 22 years. In this opportunity will be his daughter Annie Dutoit Argerich, the great director Charles Dutoit, pianist Nelson Goerner and trumpeter Sergei Nakariakov, among many other guest musicians.

From the 16 September and for three weeks the Rachmanivov Festival will be held at the Colosseum Theater. There will be three concerts there under the musical direction of Srba Dinić at the helm of the Buenos Aires Philharmonic Orchestra, and the participation of the pianist Nelson Goerner, the concerts for piano and orchestra by the great pianist Sergei Rachmaninov will be developed in an Integral way.

The most outstanding international artists will arrive on stage at the Buenos Aires Coliseum within the framework of the Great Performers Cycle, that will have 5 concerts featuring piano players András Schiff and Maria João Pires, the tenor Vittorio Grigolo, Soprano Sonya Yoncheva, and cellists Mario Brunello and Giovanni Sollima.

Throughout the 20 concerts, the Buenos Aires Philharmonic Orchestra will convene several soloists and conductors of great importance such as Charles Dutoit, Vasily Petrenko, Maxim Vengerov, Frank Peter Zimmermann, Alessio Bax, Elina Garanca, Paul Lewis, Bryn Terfel and Maria João Pires among many other renowned artists. The tribute to the composer Gerardo Gandini, ten years after his death, will have a musical incarnation through some of his orchestral works and others, by authors such as Anton Webern or Johannes Brahms, that he loved.

The edition 2023 of the Contemporary cycle will bring together the presentations of the Ensemble Modern of Germany, with a program of world premieres at the Teatro Colón made up of works specially written for them and that very few ensembles in the world can play due to their high degree of sophistication and complexity; "Voices Under Glass", by Salvatore Sciarrino, an elaboration on the work of Carlo Gesualdo da Venosa, for mezzo-soprano and ensemble; y “100 Cymbals” by Ryoji Ikeda, a high impact presentation where 10 percussionists will activate 100 cymbals lined up on stage.

The first edition of the Baroque Concert Series will feature the participation of groups such as the Argentine Baroque Orchestra at the Cappella Gabetta Consort concert; the presentations of the mezzo-soprano Vivica Genaux and the sopranist Bruno de Sá; the Ensemble Matheus together with the violinist and conductor Jean-Christophe Spinosi; the instrumentalists of Cappella Mediterranea; and the soprano Verónica Cangemi among many other artists who will give life to works such as El Mesías, de George Frideric Handel, Capitals sins, by Claudio Monteverdi, and The Four Seasons by Antonio Vivaldi, among other.

The Experimentation Center of the Teatro Colón directed by Diana Theocharidis will also join the tributes to Gerardo Gandini, with the premieres of 3 pieces that the CETC itself commissioned from composers who were disciples or close collaborators of the composer: Marcelo Delgado placeholder image, Osvaldo Golijov and Pablo Ortiz. As well, faithful to his avant-garde style, will offer the proposals "#Cibor6", a choreographic project by Florencia Gleizer together with the unconventional lighting collective Fluxlian; “Gestures in the water”, with concept and direction by Alina Marinelli, where through certain stage devices different relationships between visuality and sound atmosphere will be generated; “Scarecrow”, a cinema-concert with composition and musical direction by Martín Matalon based on three medium-length films by Buster Keaton; Happiness, a chamber opera commissioned by the Experimentation Center, with music by Marcos Franciosi and based on the story "desperate housewives" by Samanta Schweblin; Ensemble fun, three concerts with works by contemporary Italian composers conducted by Sandro Gorli; artist ex machina, a piece-installation with music and performance that will have the general direction of Nicola Costantino; and the paradise, a musical theater play authored and directed by Mariano Pensotti.

An extraordinary concert series, that will be held in the main hall of the Teatro Colón, will honor great figures of music such as Luis Alberto Spinetta after completing 50 years after the release of his album Artaud, and Gerardo Gandini on the occasion of fulfilling 10 years after his death, in a concert by Fito Páez where he will perform songs from his album "Moda y Pueblo", project in which Gandini made arrangements and direction.

further, on its 40th anniversary, the Bach Academy of Buenos Aires will present the Easter Oratorio, de Johann Sebastian Bach; the Teatro Colón will receive a visit from the Geidai Philharmonia Orchestra, de Tokyo; and the Diffusion Vocal Group will perform the work Rothko Chapel by Morton Feldman in the foyer of the theater, with an installation by Minou Maguna, because the chapel in which this work was inaugurated, has the same octagonal surface.

The magic of the Columbus for children will return with the ballets "Las bodas de Aurora", "A Midsummer Night's Dream" and "La Sylphide"; the children's concert on melodies by Erik Satie “Frayed Songs”, Directed by Nicolás Kapustiansky; and the new production of the Teatro Colón with an adaptation for children and stage direction by Pablo Maritano, "The Turk in Italy".
