The Cervantes National Theater celebrates its 100 years of life

This Sunday 5 September the Cervantes National Theater, one of the most important cultural epicenters in the country, will celebrate its centenary with a special meeting and a multimedia proposal created for the occasion.

The Cervantes, driven in 1921 by Spanish actress María Guerrero, in this way he will project his multimedia proposal created for the occasion and in addition to a performance with the general direction of Juan Parodi, the interpretations of Vanesa Maja, Maria Merlino, Marcos Montes and live music by Guillermina Etkin and a fragment of “La dama boba” by Lope de Vega, in charge of the Classical Theater company directed by Santiago Doria.

Beyond the anniversary, During the months of September and October, different activities will take place within the framework of the TNC Centennial.

In that context, It was announced that the museum exhibition “The omnimous theater” will be inaugurated, which will tell the history of the TNC from its creation to the present day.. Scenographies will be exhibited, changing rooms, props, photographic and audiovisual pieces that will cover the different historical moments of the theater accompanied by stories from its workers, among others.

In this case, the exhibition will be open to the public from Thursday 9 of September, from Thursday to Sunday from 12 a 18 and it can be visited freely and free of charge (with prior reservation).

On the other hand, as a tribute to TXI and the UBA, sister national institutions and founders of art, education and human rights of the country, The TNC celebration proposal also includes the celebration of the 20 years of “TeatroxlaIdentidad” that will present a new face-to-face program of the 8 al 11 September in the María Guerrero room of the TNC and the 200 years of the UBA, that between the 18 Y 19 September will offer in online format and with streaming transmissions the shows La narración de la historia with Guillermo Pfening and María Velasco and Arias with Mercedes Morán. At the same time, there will be discussion tables with intellectual referents from different disciplines.

The 30 September will present two books edited especially by the 100 years: one of photos with research and texts by the critic and professor Jorge Dubatti and another for children with texts by Violeta Weinchelbaum, intended for the youngest and their families to learn behind the scenes of a play and the architectural details of the building.

Finally, the 14 October will premiere "Comedy is dangerous", verse work directed by Ciro Zorzoli and written by Gonzalo Demaría and Ciro Zorzoli, created especially for the centenary, with 16 actors and actresses on stage. Conceived to inaugurate the festivities on the same day of the centenary, the effects of the pandemic delayed rehearsals and postponed their premiere.
