With the return to theaters as the predominant activity, the weekend ended the edition 22 of the BAFICI, one of the most important meetings of the Seventh Art in the City of Buenos Aires.

As detailed from the organization, more than 70 percent of face-to-face functions were sold out, in each of the 27 headquarters and also had more than 105 thousand viewers virtually from their homes or electronic devices.

During the 12 days that the festival lasted were screened 92 feature films and 143 short films, in addition to a large number of activities and special workshops that complemented the prestigious meeting.

As for the closing of the Festival - which took place on Sunday-, It was produced with the double function of "No va más", film by Rafael Filippelli that was screened first in the Sala Lugones of the San Martín Theater and then in the Gaumont cinema.

During closing, Enrique Avogadro - Buenos Aires Minister of Culture- highlighted that "BAFICI is the most important film festival in Latin America" ​​and added: “It seemed very important to us to do it because of the great symbolic value that it entails. Even in a pandemic context that continues to face great challenges. We are very happy to have been able to develop it and to continue working to reactivate the sector by living culture safely ".

Meanwhile, Javier Porta Fouz, artistic director of the festival, He remarked that “a unique edition of the BAFICI, a version of the festival faithful to its principles and that at the same time took into account the context to enhance. The variety of movies, arranged in a menu far from homogeneous, face-to-face functions and online availability, made this Bafici a true celebration of cinema and of an unusual scope. Thanks to everyone who helped us make it happen ".

OFFICIAL AMERICAN COMPETITION

The jury was composed of Kristyna Balaban (Canada), Ilaria Chiesa (Italy), Kim Krizan (U.S), J from The Planets (Spain) and Camila Sosa Villada (Argentina).

The award for BEST FEATURE FILM is sponsored by the Complejo Teatral de Buenos Aires, which grants an exhibition award for the commercial premiere at the Sala Leopoldo Lugones and is for Vacío, by Paul Venegas (Ecuador / Uruguay)

The GRAND PRIZE of the American Competition is awarded by HD Argentina, which awards the winner with 2K post-production services, the generation of a (1) 2K DCP master from a digital master and 2 do you copy. The winning film is Things We Don't Do, by Bruno Santamaría Razo (Mexico).

ARGENTINA OFFICIAL COMPETITION

The jury was composed of Elise Labbe (Canada), Jaime Manrique (Colombia), Chris Nicklison (Argentina), The Redford Team (France) e Ilda Santiago (Brazil).

BEST PERFORMANCE: Ana Katz for her work in Fabián canta, by Diego Crespo

The awards for BEST SHORT FILM were two of the same category.

First, sponsored by Pomeranec and Lahaye Media, it's for Fabián sings, by Diego Crespo. Pomeranec rewards the winner with the sound design and assembly of bands, including original music production, from a short film up to 30 minutes and Lahaye Media with a DCP encoding for short films up to 30 minutes.

The second, sponsored by ZUB Sound and Lahaye Media, is for Ob Scena, by Paloma Orlandini Castro. ZUB Sonido rewards the winner with the sound design and assembly of bands of a short film of up to 30 minutes and Lahaye Media with a DCP encoding for short films up to 30 minutes.

The award for BEST DIRECTION went to Jonathan Perel for his film Corporate Responsibility, and obtained an economic award of $100.000 granted by the Ministry of Culture of the Government of the City of Buenos Aires.

The award for BEST FEATURE FILM, jointly sponsored by HD Argentina, CUBIC Post, INCAA-RECAM “30 years of Mercosur” and the Buenos Aires Theater Complex, it was for what will be of the summer, by Ignacio Ceroi.

HD Argentina grants the winner a 4K equipment service for FOUR weeks of FIVE shooting days each. CUBIC Post awards an award of FIVE days of color correction with a colorist and FIVE days of sound mixing with operator and authorship of DCP. The National Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual Arts (INCAA) awards the INCAA-RECAM Award "30 years of Mercosur", which consists of the subtitling into Portuguese or English of the winning feature film and the sum of ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND PESOS ($100.000) for the acquisition of exhibition rights in the MERCOSUR Network of Digital Rooms. The jury was composed of Ricardo Bedoya (Peru), Anahi Berneri (Argentina), Olivia Cooper-Hadjain (France), Gonzalo Garcia Pelayo (Spain) and Cristián Sánchez (Chile).

SPECIAL MENTION IN PERFORMANCE: Amalia Ulman and Ale Ulman for their work on the film The Planet, by Amalia Ulman (Spain)

BEST PERFORMANCE: Elisa Carricajo for her work in Bahía Blanca, by Rodrigo Caprotti (Argentina)

The GRAND PRIZE winning film is My Last Adventure, directed by Ezequiel Salinas and Ramiro Sonzini (Argentina).

UNOFFICIAL AWARDS:

The FLOW Award for Argentine Cinema went to A house without curtains, by Julián Troksberg, in the feature film category, and for Fabián he sings, by Diego Crespo, in short film. FEISAL (Federation of Schools of Image and Sound of Latin America)

The jury was made up of Marcelo Trotta, Anabella Speciale and Rodrigo Cepeda.

Special mention: Things we don't do, by Bruno Santamaría Razo (Mexico).

Best feature film by Latin American directors up to 35 years of all competencies: The planet, by Amalia Ulman.

ACCA (Film Critics Association of Argentina)

The jury was made up of Alejandra Quevedo, Jesica Taranto and Mercedes Orden.
