They handed the Minujín Marta Velázquez Lifetime Achievement Award
The artist Marta Minujín Argentina won the Velázquez prize awarded by the Ministry of Education, Epaña Culture and Sport in recognition of outstanding contribution of all his work.
The jury distinguished the Argentine artist because it considers that “With her creative maxim ‘everything is art’ she was a pioneer in new artistic behaviors and in the overflow of the institutional frameworks of art and the media”.
“His countercultural position and political commitment at a particularly difficult time remain in the current international situation. His desecration of popular myths and the activation of social ties have made him a precursor of ephemeral and relational practices ", as highlighted in the jury's minutes.
The award, that the Spanish government grants from 2002, is endowed with 100.000 euros. The first artists to receive this award were Ramón Gaya and Antonio Tapies.
