"The bitter truth" is the name of the album that marked the return to the Evanescence studios and is now available through digital platforms.

In this way, The group led by vocalist Amy Lee presents the first original music album in a decade, via BMG. The album marks a return to the roots of the band and in turn a lyrical content that is a reflection of the personal tragedies in the lives of the members of the band. (the unexpected passing of Lee's brother, the sudden loss of a son to bassist Tim McCord) and the collective tragedies of the planet amid racial inequality, COVID and economic turmoil. But, despite the darkness and bitterness of life, the resounding message of the album is light: moving on is better than giving up.

Amy Lee said about “The Bitter Truth”: “I want people to come out of this album feeling hope, empowerment and strength. Something that inspires me a lot in life are the people who have overcome great obstacles, the survivors. I hope we can convey the idea that even when things are incredibly painful, Life is worth living. Support us in those darkest and most challenging moments, face them and discover that we are not alone, makes us real. Makes us strong enough to stand up to them. Y our one, if we allow it, in a deeper appreciation of light and truth. Thanks for the memories. Now let's make some new ones”.

The album's quarantined creation is also chronicled in a new documentary, “Evanescence: Embracing The Bitter Truth”, Directed by Adam Jones and published via The Coda Collection, Amazon Prime Video's music-centric streaming channel.

Capturing the genesis of the album since the band's last live show in December 2019 to mixing and finishing processes, mostly remote, the documentary is a necessary viewing for fans and anyone looking to understand the art behind the art of the pandemic era.
