The outstanding composer of Italian origin Ennio Morricone passed away at 91 years, thus leaving a legacy of close to 500 musical compositions and more than 300 movie soundtracks that marked an era in the Seventh Art.

Winner of three Grammy Awards, four Golden Globes and an Oscar Award -in addition to an honorary Golden Lion-, Among his work appears the music of "Los Intocables" or the hits of Quentin Tarantino "Kill Bill" or "Hateful eight" (The eight most hated).

The Roman artist died in the early morning hours of Argentina in a clinic in his hometown, where he was hospitalized after a sharp fall that caused his fracture of the femur, as detailed by the RAI chain.

Morricone composed the soundtrack of several period westerns, like "the good, the bad and the ugly " (1966), also the beautiful melody of “Cinema Paradiso” (1988) or the historical "The mission" (1986), demonstrating its versatility for all kinds of genre.

Among the large number of tributes he received in his memory appeared the message of the Italian Prime Minister, Giuseppe Conte, who pointed out remember “always, with infinite recognition, the artistic genius of Master Ennio Morricone ”.

Morricone's debut came in 1961 with the film directed by Luciano Salce, "The Federal", although the massive recognition came a few years later -1964 to be precise- with Sergio Leone's film, "For a bunch of dollars". This classic would later become one of the fundamental pieces of the so-called ‘spaghetti western’.
