The new exhibition of the National Museum of Oriental Art was announced
"Dō" is the name of the upcoming exhibition that can be seen from Wednesday 14 June at the National Museum of Oriental Art, under the curatorship of Mami Goda.
The appointment will be from the 18.30, time when the sign that refers to the road is officially open, to the perpetual walk that does not end or abandon.
The name of the exhibition is a Japanese concept linked to traditional arts that refers to the action of training the body and mind through practice..
This exhibition covers part of the path of the artists Julieta Jiterman and Juan Pablo Marturano who, from different creative approaches, commit to routine: the way (ruta) in ritual habit (routine).
Juliet Jiterman addresses Sumi-e, traditional japanese ink painting, with a variation: use an unusual material for this practice, the aluminum, to walk the path of the brush. Meanwhile, Juan Pablo Marturano integrates mountaineering and his artistic practice as a sculptor: he carves a stone and leaves it as an offering on a peak—of Mount Fuji, for example— at the same time that he picks up another stone from that peak as a testimony of his passage and portrays it.
This exhibition will remain open until Sunday 5 November and can be seen from Wednesday to Sunday from 14 a 20, with free admission to the Viamonte venue 525, second floor (Borges Cultural Center).
