The return of the Buenos Aires Book Fair was announced

After two years of absence due to the pandemic, in the last hours the return of the Buenos Aires International Book Fair was announced, one of the most convoking cultural events in the country.

The announcement was carried out through an event that was held at the CCK and that had the writer Guillermo Saccomanno conducting the inauguration of what will be the edition number 46 and the musician Víctor Heredia interpreting “Como la cigarra” by María Elena Walsh.

Likewise, the Minister of Culture of the Nation, Tristan Bauer; the Minister of Culture of the City of Buenos Aires, Enrique Avogadro; the President of the El Libro Foundation, Ariel Granica and the brand new General Director of the Institution, Ezequiel Martinez, were the speakers for the occasion.

The Fair will reopen its doors on Thursday 28 April and its activities will run until 16 May at the La Rural Fairgrounds.

It is worth noting that the opening ceremony had more than 300 guests present, a record attendance in the history of the Fair's launches. Other guests were the President and Vice President of Banco Nación, Eduardo Hecker and Federico Sánchez; the Director of the National Library Juan Sasturain; Charge d'Affaires of the Cuban Embassy Dagmara Calzada; the Coordinator of the National Reading Plan, Natalia Porta López, among many other personalities from the world of culture, as well as diplomats, editors, writers and journalists.

Ariel Granica maintained that “for all that we had to go through, this act is a unique and different moment, this act is a relaunch and a reunion, it is homage and celebration ". He then summoned “María Eugenia Zicavo, Prosecretaria; Alejo Avila, Protesorer; Alejandro Vaccaro, Secretary; A hard tackle from Joaquín Gil to Paricio, Treasurer, and Santo Pirillo Vice-president of the Fundación el Libro. And also to María Teresa Carbano, President of the Foundation when the pandemic was declared and who had to carry out the most difficult decision, which was to suspend the Book Fair "

In this context, he highlighted: "Here is the representation of the authors, the graphics industry, editors and publishers, dealers, booksellers and bookstores ". Closing the event, he stated that “the scaffolding that leads us to the 46th fair is already underway. We have demonstrated enormous capacity as a sector and as an entity. Our Fair is already one of the most important cultural events in the world. We had to apply our energy in not giving up, now we can deploy it to make the 46th Fair, an extraordinary event ".
