The winners of the theatrical contest "Power and Politics" were announced

From the Culture area of ​​the Honorable Chamber of Deputies of the Nation, the names of those texts that were winners of the third edition of the “Power and Politics” contest were revealed..

For this edition the motto was to address democracy, within the framework of the 40 aniversario de su regreso al país. The pieces presented, also, should have been framed in the Article 37 of the National Constitution, referring to voting and the exercise of political rights.

Each text presented was analyzed by a jury made up of playwrights Roberto Perinelli (CABA), corina milcar (Land of Fire), Soledad Gonzalez (Córdoba), Javier Dault (CABA) and the actress Luisa Kuliok (CABA).

Of all the works presented, three awards and three special mentions were chosen.

The first prize went to the play “Venidas y quedas”, by Alejandro Luis Santucci (La Plata), second prize for “On the corner of Boedo and Florida” by Marcelo Britos (Rosario) and the third for “Juan de Guzmán” by Alicia Herminia Muñoz (Moreno).

Regarding the winning works, The jury stated that: “Coming and Staying” deserves the first prize because “the simple language with emotional and sensory implications shows an event where empathy and tenderness are possible in the world of work and art among heterogeneous people and realities with unequal opportunities.”; while “On the corner of Boedo and Florida”, (…) The author brings together two real characters with skill and intelligence, Jorge Luis Borges and Bernardo Kordon, we assume they never had contact, And if they had, perhaps they would not have participated in this very pleasant encounter., of attractive discursivity and, especially, very theatrical”.

Meanwhile, “Juan de Guzmán”, “brings us closer to that 1580 when Juan de Garay founded the City of La Trinidad, and the nascent struggles are inevitable and expose us to questions of painful relevance, (…)”.

Likewise, three special mentions were awarded without order of merit, that were for: “The bones” by Mariano Saba (CABA), “Let the house burn but let the smoke not come out” by Magalí Chamot (CABA), “Tierrasucia” by Paula Echalecu (Flowers, Buenos Aires)

A total of one hundred and twenty-eight texts were received from authors from different parts of the country., like Buenos Aires, CABA, Santa Fe, Córdoba, saint Louis, Between rivers, Salta, Corrientes, Jujuy, Chubut, Neuquén, Catamarca and other provinces; who addressed the issue of democracy both from the celebrations and its recovery, such as outstanding debts and future prospects.

The winning texts will be included in the Digital Library of theatrical works “Power and Politics” and will later be edited in a compilation that will be presented at the Buenos Aires International Book Fair, edition 2024. The awards ceremony will take place in December.
