Upon completion 87 years after his birth, the National Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual Arts (INCAA) will carry out a free function in tribute to Fernando "Pino" Solanas.

The chosen film has been "El viaje" and will be screened this Thursday 16 February from 19.30 in the Leonardo Favio room of the Gaumont Cinema.

This production by the renowned Argentine filmmaker will be exhibited at 35 mm, organized through the INCAA National Cinematheque and the Exhibition and Audience Management, in coordination with CINE SUR and the Municipality of Avellaneda.

"El viaje" is a production of the year 1990 –premiered in 1992– and it is the feature film that Pino Solanas was working on when he was the victim of an attack that has never been clarified –Pino was shot in May of 1991 in the parking lot of the Cinecolor laboratory, in a fact that is part of the tragic history of Argentine political violence–.

Regarding its plot, revolves around a young man 17 years (played by Walter Quiroz), who leaves from Ushuaia in search of his father, an archaeologist who hasn't kept his promise to come back for him. The desire to find it and discover the world led him to undertake the trip through Latin America with the only thing he had., a bicycle.

The film is part of a long list of audiovisual works directed and co-directed by Pino Solanas over five decades.. "The time of the ovens" (1968), “Argentina, May of 1969: the paths of liberation (1969), "Peron, the justicialist revolution (1971), "Peron: Political and doctrinal update for the seizure of power” (1971), "Sons of Iron" (1975), "Gardel's exile (tangos)” (1985), "On" (1987), "Cloud" (1998), "Memory of looting" (2003), "The dignity of nobodies" (2005), “Latent Argentina” (2006), "Next Station" (2008), "revolted land: impure gold” (2009), "revolted land 2: black gold” (2011), "The War of Fracking" (2013), "The strategic legacy of Juan Perón" (2016) and "Journey to the Fumigated Towns" (2018).
