"Lady's gambit", "Ted Lasso" and "The Crown" showed off at the Emmys

"Lady's gambit", "Ted Lasso" and "The Crown" were the big winners in the Best Miniseries categories., Comedy and Drama at the first face-to-face Emmy Awards since the start of the pandemic.

The fourth season of "The Crown", the award-winning saga about the british royal family, won the award for best drama series, gifting Netflix its first statuette in the category.

"Ted Lasso", the series with Jason Sudeikis about a big-hearted football coach called to coach a British football team in eternal relegation risk, was the favorite the day before against "Hacks", con Jean Smart, Winner in the Best Comedic Actress category for the role of a comedian in Las Vegas, ANSA news agency reported.

They were also awarded Peter Morgan, by script and director Jessica Hobbs.

Just a streaming service, Hulu, with "The Handmaid's Tale" four years ago, had won a Primetime Emmy in the prestigious category of Best Dramatic Series.

Netflix was the big winner of the night with 44 accolades, including ten at the Primetime awards ceremony, followed by HBO and HBO Max with 19 statuettes, Disney + with 14 and Apple TV with 11, including four for "Ted Lasso" (plus the best comedy series, Sudeikis were awarded, Brett Goldstein y Hannah Waddingham).

Hosted by local comedian Cedric the Entertainer, the ceremony took place in Los Angeles in a marquee located behind its traditional location, el Microsoft Theatre. There were hundreds of guests sitting at the table, in the style of the Golden Globes, instead of the usual more than seven thousand.
