Tribute to director Lucas Demare on the anniversary of his death
This Monday 6 September the Cinema Museum will carry out a tribute to Lucas Demare, director of "La Guerra Gaucha", within the framework of the 40 anniversary of his death.
The tribute consists of a special transmission that will be carried out by the networks of the Pablo C Museum. Ducrós Hicken and on his respective YouTube channel, starting at 22 hours.
Thus, the traditional Buenos Aires venue will carry out a rescue of the legacy of the fundamental director of Argentine cinema through the testimonies of the journalist Rómulo Berruti; from her daughter, actress María José Demare; and Raúl Manrupe, investigator, and María del Carmen Vieites, curator of the Cinema Museum.
The special one, where they will be seen next to the reflections, memories and testimonials, will have a number of photographs of the fundamental films of Lucas Demare, Audio and image fragments and posters of his films also allow us to display the remarkable amount of heritage around his career that is guarded by the Cinema Museum..
Demare was born on 14 July 1910 and passed away on a day like today, but 1981. Was a director, Screenwriter and film producer with a great career in Argentine cinema for which he wrote and directed "La Guerra Gaucha" (1942), considered an iconic film of the golden age cinema, and great classics like "El cura gaucho" (1941), "The street screams" (1948), "My sad night" (1951), “Zafra” (1958) and "Son of Man" (1961).
In 1941 founded Artistas Argentinos Asociados and in 1958 participated in the foundation of Argentine Cinematographic Directors (DAC). His filmography made him the recipient of several awards from the Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences of Argentina, Condor Award, and the National Commission of Culture, in addition to numerous international awards.
