Julio Bocca and Gerardo Grieco new starters for Colón

A new team headed by Julio Bocca and Gerardo Grieco will take the reins of the Teatro Colón, inaugurating a new stage in the history of the emblematic Buenos Aires coliseum.

Both directors, internationally renowned figures in their respective fields, They are already outlining a new management model that will be officially presented in November. This change seeks to conclude the cycle that began with the building reform of 2010, now adding a renewal in the way of working to transform the Theater into a sustainable institution, based on artistic excellence and exemplary management.

Julio Bocca, one of the most outstanding dancers in Argentina, known for his brilliant career at the American Ballet Theater and as director of the Sodre National Ballet, expressed his emotion: “I am very happy to return home, very excited and proud of this new beginning”. Meanwhile, Gerardo Grieco, renowned cultural manager with more than thirty years of experience and a history that includes the direction of the Solís Theater and the Sodre National Auditorium, he commented: “It is a real pride for me that they have asked me to direct the Teatro Colón, with everything it means to work in one of the most prestigious theaters in the world”.

The new team will focus on organizing internal processes, enhance the local and global relevance of the Theatre's artistic offering and ensure that culture is accessible to all. According to the Minister of Culture of the City, Gabriela Ricardes, “They are already working on the transition and programming 2025, that will live up to what we want from the Teatro Colón, “a world reference for culture”.
