Nomad ”will meet in the room 33 of the Museum photographs, installations, objects and videos of the Korean creator, where the bottaris - a bundle made up of a traditional colorful blanket from their country, involving a brief selection of objects meaningful to their owners - they are omnipresent.
About installation with bottaris, the curator analyzes: "Each of them is a condensed version of the world, of a singular world, intimate, enclosed or sheltered - rather - by a blanket that wraps, it protects and hides at the same time a set of necessary objects with which the notion of "necessity" could be redefined in the encounter of each one of them or in the imagination of all those who observe them ".
further, his emblematic “Woman needle” will be projected on a wall of the room, video premiered at CCA Kitakyushu in 1999. In the audiovisual, Kimsooja, with your back to the camera, appears in Tokyo, Shanghai, Delhi, New York, Mexico City, Cairo, Lagos, London, Patan and Nepal, places of unresolved conflicts that the artist tries to metaphorically heal through the needle.
As Wechsler explains, Kimsooja's work –who defines himself as “nomad” - “transits fluidly between space and time in search of capturing or facing / in / between diverse realities”. "Observing serenely in the midst of the crowd offers her the possibility of 'feeling empathy for humanity' while bringing it closer to 'capturing the essence of the ephemerality of human reality'", adds.
Following the curatorial axes "Transits and migrations" and "Ways of inhabiting", the Fine Arts exhibition joins the other two chapters that make up the BIENALSUR project "Kimsooja in Buenos Aires", curated by Wechsler, who seeks to establish links, new senses, and empathize with and in different cultures and societies: the chapter 1: Kimsooja. The meeting with the other ", which was inaugurated on 10 September at the MUNTREF Immigrants Hotel Headquarters, and the "Chapter 3: Kimsooja. An inner experience ", that can be seen from the 21 September at the Korean Cultural Center.
