The childhood home of María Elena Walsh, state heritage

Recently, the incorporation of the childhood home of the famous singer-songwriter María Elena Walsh to the State heritage was made official.

This action was achieved through a joint effort between the Ministry of Culture of the Nation; the Ministry of Production, Science and Technological Innovation of the Province of Buenos Aires and the Municipality of Morón.

The house of the unforgettable singer-songwriter, writer, poet and composer María Elena Walsh, located on the street 3 February Villa Sarmiento, in the Morón district, finally it will pass into the hands of the State with the fundamental purpose of turning it into a cultural space for the entire community.

Through an articulation between the Ministry of Culture of the Nation, the Province of Buenos Aires and the Municipality of Morón acquired the house of one of the greatest references of Argentine culture. This property, that was uninhabited for many years, It belonged to a family who opportunely bought it from the Walsh family.

Thus, the deed of purchase was signed in the name of the Municipality of Morón with funds issued by the Ministry of Culture of the Nation, based on an agreement signed between Minister Tristán Bauer and Mayor Lucas Ghi.

From this action, the intention now is to turn the property into a cultural space open to the community, that through the evocation of his figure and the dissemination of his work of passage to new artistic creations.

According to Tristán Bauer, holder of the National Culture portfolio, “We are very happy and proud with this acquisition that will allow us to give the house, where one of the most important figures of our culture lived, the value it deserves and turn it into a cultural space open to the entire community ”and he added: “Here we will surely be able to recreate the wonderful universes of María Elena, so unique and unrepeatable. We assume the commitment to work together with Augusto Costa and Lucas Ghi to build another space where we can meet María Elena Walsh ".

Meanwhile, the Mayor of Morón, Lucas Ghi considered that “it fills us with pride and joy to be able to recover what was the childhood home of our beloved María Elena Walsh, an established artist, internationally renowned who lived his early years in Villa Sarmiento, Morón party ".

“We proposed together with the Ministry of Culture of the Nation and the Ministry of Production and Culture of the Province of Buenos Aires, incorporate it into the patrimony of the State, so that it becomes part of the cultural and artistic assets that our city has, as a space open to the community that allows us to give visibility and diffusion to the vast and wonderful work of María Elena ", ended.
