Diego Maradona's birthplace was declared a "Historic Place"

Through a presidential decree, it was established that the home address of soccer star and icon of national popular culture Diego Maradona is "Historic place".

In that context, with the signature of President Alberto Fernández, The decree was published that declares the birthplace of Diego Armando Maradona as a national historic place by the “enormous influence ”that the soccer idol had on“ Argentine popular culture ”.

The decree 733/2021 It further establishes that Maradona "transcends his sporting merits and constitutes him in the light of his recent death as one of the most recognizable symbols of our identity".

The house - which was Diego's home in his first years of life- It is located at Calle Azamor Nº 523, en Villa Fiorito, Lomas de Zamora party, Buenos Aires province.

Diego's older brothers were born there, Elsa Lucia and María Rosa and then, his younger brothers Raúl Alfredo, Hugo Hernán and Claudia Nora. Around this house were the seven fields or "paddocks" that are currently part of the "Social and Sports Club Estrellas Unidas", where Maradona began to forge himself as a footballer during his childhood.

The presidential measure was prepared with the advice of the National Monuments Commission, of Historic Places and Assets (CNMLyBH) and also had the signatures of the Chief of Staff, Juan Manzur, and the Minister of Culture, Tristan Bauer.
