The City of Buenos Aires will celebrate Shakespeare for two days
This weekend the City of Buenos Aires will hold the Shakespeare Festival, a series of activities that will pay tribute to the famous playwright.
Within this framework, There will be several personalities who will be part of this meeting, as Elena Roger, Juan Rodó, Cristina Perez, Antonio Grimau, Eleonora Wexler and Flavia Pittella. Most of these activities can be enjoyed for free.
Since its beginning in 2011, The Shakespeare Festival has become the first annual festival dedicated to Shakespeare in Latin America. In this opportunity, The venues will include the Recoleta Cultural Center (Junín 1930), the San Martín Cultural Center (Sarmiento 1551), the Güiraldes Library (Talcahuano 1261) and the Sarmiento Theater (Of. Sarmiento 2715).
The program will cover a wide variety of activities, from plays to poetic meetings and exhibitions. Standing out among the proposals, the Recoleta Cultural Center will host Ufa Shakespeare, cut it!, a fun circus reinterpretation of Romeo and Juliet.
further, This space will present the puppeteers of the San Martín Theater. While, the Sarmiento Theater will host Measure by measure, directed by Gabriel Chamé Buendia, after a decade of success with Othelo; while the San Martín Cultural Center will offer the play Sonnets by William Shakespeare.
Likewise, During the two days of the Festival, emblematic costumes from Shakespeare's works will be exhibited, from the classics of the San Martín Theater to the most recent productions of the Buenos Aires Theater Complex. These costumes, dating back to the decade of 1960 to the present, will offer a visual testimony of the different eras and creative approaches that have defined the interpretation of the works of the prominent author.
